"I came today to celebrate the victory of Syria, the victory of the free people," says a Syrian woman as people gather in Damascus's Ummayad Square to celebrate the ouster of Syria's longtime strongman Bashar al-Assad. Syrians have been holding celebrations in Ummayad Square for several days since rebels led by Islamist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham took the capital on December 8 and toppled Assad after a lightning offensive.
