Description
Exhausted by more than 14 months of war, the wives and mothers of Israeli soldiers are uniting in protest against exemptions from conscription for ultra-Orthodox men. "We need enough reserve soldiers to enlist by tomorrow morning so that the burden in our homes will be lighter. Because we can’t bear it anymore," says Rotem Avidar Tzalik. The mother of three is a lawyer and a member of the Reservists' Wives Forum, a group advocating for broader conscription, including from Israel’s ultra-Orthodox community, which is currently exempt from military service.
