Description
To mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camps, AFP met with survivors around the world. Julia Wallach was arrested in Paris on 24 April 1943 at the age of 17. Initially held in the Drancy detention camp, she was later deported to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp. Now, at the age of 99, she knows sharing her story is more important than ever, even though the painful memories bring her to tears: "As long as I can, I will. So that we don't forget," she says.
