Description
In the heart of Douala-Edea Natural Park, dedicated Cameroonian caretakers tend to and rehabilitate young chimpanzees, orphaned by poaching and deforestation. At Papaye International, a sanctuary dubbed a "monkey paradise" and spread across three rainforest-covered islands, staff look after 34 chimps, gradually helping them adjust to adult life. "We must try to preserve them so that our future generations, the grandchildren, must also see this species," says Alioum Sanda. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES ARRANGED IN SEQUENCES
