In Mayotte, devastated by Cyclone Chido, celebrating the transition to 2025 is not a priority, even as life in the French archipelago begins to return to normal. "We have children who have been traumatised by Cyclone Chido, so we haven't made any plans for tonight," says Nouria Rama, an employee of the board of education.
