Description
Swimmers in fancy dress run into the Firth of Forth for a New Year's Day dip. Despite it snowing earlier in the morning and extreme weather leading to the cancellation of other Hogmanay events, hundreds ran into the water for the annual "Loony Dook", an Edinburgh tradition that has been running for over 30 years. Tony Pirouet, who took over organising the Loony Dook three years ago, said "it was very relaxing!" after floating in the water wrapped in bubblewrap. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
