Images from the central prison in Arles in France's southern region of Bouches-du-Rhône, where an inmate known for 'serious psychiatric problems' and armed with a homemade pickaxe has been holding five people hostage in the prison's health unit since 11.10am on Friday. The hostages include four nursing staff and a guard, according to police and prison sources. IMAGES
