Description
To mark the tenth anniversary of the January 2015 attacks in France, cartoonist Lacombe talks to AFP about the "horror" of the deadly attack by Islamist gunmen on the offices of the French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo. For him, in 2015, "press cartoonists were elevated to the status of heroes of democracy", and he believes that today, "it all died down very quickly". "It's a bit of a shame that we have to take an interest in it (cartoons) every time we commemorate it", he added. The 2015 attack by two Paris-born brothers of Algerian descent was said to be revenge for the weekly's decision to publish caricatures lampooning the Prophet Mohammed, Islam's most revered figure.
