Description
About 200 Hondurans leave in a caravan to the United States from the city of San Pedro Sula (northwest), despite Donald Trump's threats to carry out the largest deportation of migrants when he assumes the presidency in two weeks.
With backpacks and some food, they gather overnight at a transport terminal in San Pedro Sula, Honduras' second city 180 km north of Tegucigalpa, and some accompanied by children begin the walk of about 120 km to the border with Guatemala.
"The intention is to leave the country and, God willing, we will arrive," says Leticia Alvarado, who arrived at the terminal from the village of Tela on the Caribbean coast.
According to Honduran authorities, about 280,000 Hondurans could be deported. In 2024, more than 37,000 were deported. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
