The second trial of Rui Pinto, Portuguese hacker behind the "Football Leaks", begins in Lisbon. Pinto is charged with 242 counts of allegedly illegally accessing the mailboxes of several Portuguese sporting institutions, including Benfica Lisbon, as well as law firms, magistrates and the tax authorities. In September 2023, he was given a suspended four-year prison sentence by the Portuguese courts for another series of computer crimes, as well as for attempted extortion against a sports investment fund, a decision upheld on appeal last week.
