Human Rights Watch Asia director Elaine Pearson says "civil society is under siege everywhere," as the organization launches its annual report. Speaking at a press conference in Thailand's capital Bangkok, Pearson said that from Pakistan to Cambodia political opponents were being "hounded into exile, imprisoned," pointing out that Thailand's constitutional court had dissolved the Move Forward party last year.
