Description
Hundreds of Salvadorans protest the newly approved law, pushed by President Nayib Bukele, that reactivates metallic mining in the country. Luis Gonzalez, president of the Salvadoran Ecological Unit, says civil organizations will file an unconstitutionality appeal against the law, which they condemn for "violating the human rights to water, food, and health."
On December 23rd, Congress, with 57 of the 60 lawmakers loyal to Bukele, passed a law reactivating metallic mining in the country, which had been banned since 2017. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
