Description
"Coffins are getting more and more scarce," says the owner of a funeral home in Tibu, a Colombian town on the border with Venezuela, where increasing violence between the army and guerrillas has killed at least 100 people in recent days. With bloodshed reported in three Colombian departments, funeral homes are "afraid" to collect bodies for fear of reprisals, there is little space to store bodies in the morgue, and cemeteries are "cramped" with bodies reportedly buried above ground.
