"The word that comes to mind is 'stripped', down to 20 metres, so it's quite painful to see the barrier like that," says a field worker from the Mayotte Marine Nature Park, after his first dive since the passage of Cyclone Chido, which was both devastating for the population of Mayotte and shook the lagoon of this French archipelago in the Indian Ocean, with some of its exceptional coral reefs suffering particularly badly.
