Description
Colombians in Bogota react to the the government's decision to declare a state of emergency and deploy thousands of soldiers to contain the conflict in Catatumbo.
Some like 75-year-old economist Armando Villegas do not agree with the latest government decision: "the government did not need to reach this state of emergency, because it had the tools to fight these events beforehand," he says.
While others, like 40-year-old Edna Malamo, see things with a bit more optimism.
"We have to take this as a starting point to begin to improve and look for mechanisms that allow for a ceasefire," she says. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
