PROFILE of jailed prominent Russian Gulag historian Yury Dmitriyev. The Memorial human rights organisation's Russian branch said in a statement on January 21 that Dmitriyev had been transferred to a harsher conditions prison cell for six days for "incorrectly" performing mandatory morning exercices. Dmitriyev is serving a 15-year sentence since 2021 in a prison in the Russian region of Mordovia, on charges his supporters say are punishment for his work.
