The day after two people killed in a knife attack in the Bavarian town of Aschaffenburg, locals come to lay flowers, light candles or just gather their thoughts. The victims of the attack, which targeted a play school group in a public park, were a two-year-old child and a 41-year-old male passerby who died while trying to shield other children. Three more people were wounded. "It's terrible, it's appalling, but on the other hand it's also reassuring to see how a very broad community sticks together", says one local come to pay his respects.
