As early voting and campaigning gets underway in Belarus's presidential election, Minsk residents express support for strongman ruler President Alexander Lukashenko, whose 30-year rule promises to extend on Sunday. The unprecedented protest movement that rose up against him following the last elections in 2020 was suppressed by force: many Belarusians were sentenced to long prison terms and hundreds of thousands of others fled, notably to Poland.
