Celebrations outside the Fort-de-France criminal court in Martinique as Rodrigue Petitot, leader of the movement against the high cost of living on the French Caribbean island, was given a one-year suspended prison sentence for "acts of intimidation" against the territory's prefect. "As soon as Mr Petitot walks free, we can consider it a victory," says his lawyer, adding that despite the win he was "dissatisfied". "Mr Petitot had no reason to be in this prison, at all.
