As part of President Nayib Bukele's ongoing crusade against gangs in El Salvador, the government opened the Counter-Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT) in Tecoluca, which will soon mark its second anniversary. In this maximum-security facility, imprisoned gang members say they are aware "they will never leave."
"As a gang member, I don't agree with what they [the government] are doing," says MS-13 gang member, alias "Sayco." "But for the Salvadoran people, I'd say it's the best, because we haven't been good people," he adds. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
