Description
Residents in the eastern DR Congo city of Goma say they are "very afraid" after days of fighting between Congolese soldiers and the Rwanda-backed M23 armed group which left buildings riddled with bullet holes and shops looted and burnt. "Please help us, have pity on us, because if we carry on like this, we'll all starve to death," resident Louise Furaha tells AFP.
More than 100 people have been killed since the M23 and the Rwandan army entered the town on January 26, according to an AFP count. The fighting has left the city without electricity or internet access, while supplies of essential medicines have run dangerously low. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
