Description
Four years after the military coup in Myanmar, villagers from Shwebo township in Sagaing struggle as their lives are upended by the ongoing conflict. Attacks by soldiers and pro-junta Pyusawhti militia have forced them to flee their homes, seeking refuge in the jungle to escape the violence.
Khin Htay, a 52-year-old mother from Shwebo, has witnessed her life crumble in the past four years. Before the coup, Khin Htay and her husband lived with their three sons, but the military's violent crackdown has scattered her family. "My heart is filled with grief. I am always stressed and struggling," she tells AFP. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
