Description
In 2025, Vienna celebrates the bicentenary of the birth of Johann Strauss II, an emblematic figure of classical music. His most famous work, "The Blue Danube" ("An der schönen, blauen Donau" in German), composed in 1866, is Austria's unofficial anthem and still resonates today. The life and work of the "King of the Waltz" is celebrated at the House of Strauss museum in Vienna. "He was actually the first pop star in the modern sense," says Clara Kaufmann, a tour guide at Strauss's apartment. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
