Description
If the US continues to freeze all work by the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) the impacts will be "almost catastrophic", particularly for countries most reliant on this funding, such as Malawi and Mozambique, says Salim Abdool Karim, Director of the Centre for the Aids Programme of Research in South Africa (CAPRISA). The wider impact of the decision from US President Donald Trump to freeze foreign assistance is that it has "or undermined the credibility of the US government and the US people", Karim says.
