As polls open across Ecuador, the country holds a ceremony for the opening of the 2025 presidential elections in Quito. "We tell the people that we respect their vote cast in the ballot boxes," says Diana Atamaint, President of the National Electoral Council.
Some 14 million Ecuadorans have begun voting to decide who will lead their violence-wracked Andean nation through its worst crisis in half a century. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
