French Minister Delegate for artificial intelligence and digital technologies Clara Chappaz emphasises France's "considerable advantages" in developing AI technology on the first day of the two-day AI Action Summit in Paris. However, faced with the US and China dominating the sector, "there's a race of values, a race of civilisational models," in which France is seeking partners, says Chappaz. The president of Mozilla Mark Surman also advocates for "fully open" open-source AI to power economic growth and reduce risks from the technology.
