Description
Thousands of Nigerians who fled to Chad to escape jihadist violence in the country's northeast have returned after more than a decade, a relief agency spokesman told AFP Wednesday. “To be honest, I was scared to come back,” says 27-year-old Iliya Ishaku, one of the Nigerian returnees. Borno state has provided a temporary camp to house returnees before they are sent back to their homes after screening, a spokesman for the Borno authorities said. “For over 10 years, we have been in refugee camps. Now, we're back in our country and we are still in camps,” says 49-year-old returnee Abba Ali Abubakar. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
