Description
Contemporary artist William Kentridge is officially welcomed by France's Académie des Beaux-Arts, two years after being named as a Foreign Associate Member. The South African artist, who is known for his multi-faceted forms of expression and his work highlighting apartheid-era injustice, was awarded a ceremonial sword. Kentridge refused to comment on the ongoing situation in Israel and Gaza, which South Africa has qualified as genocide and apartheid. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
