France hands over its sole military base in Ivory Coast to the west African nation, marking an end to decades of French presence at the site. "This act marks a new stage in the relationship of friendship and strategic cooperation between our two nations," says Ivorian Minister of Defence, Tene Birahima Ouattara, after signing a document with his French counterpart,Sebastien Lecornu, to finalise the return.
