Description
Venezuela's Attorney General, Tarek William Saab, reports a 90% drop in the country's murder rate. Between 2018 and 2024, the number of murder cases fell from 8,507 to 1,338, Saab tells during an interview with AFP.
He also praises the enforcement of prison sentences of up to 30 years for murder, noting that such penalties "make people think twice."
At the same time, Saab highlights the rising issue of deaths related to road accidents, pointing out that the rates nearly "doubled" from 2020 to 2024, including both injuries and fatalities. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
