Description
For Olena Koshulko, the first year after fleeing Ukraine was a blur, and now fear is creeping back into her life as her new home, Poland, mulls curbing benefits for Ukrainians like her. "I couldn't live here with my children on my own," she says, "there's simply no way to pay for it". Currently, all parents, including Ukrainian refugees, can claim 800 zlotys ($198) in monthly benefits for each child under 18, but authorities have proposed limiting this to those working. Koshulko fled to Poland with her two children, Veronika, 12, and Oleksandr, 18, who needs round-the-clock care. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
