Members of Afro-Brazilian religions perform the so-called Lavagem do Sapucai, a traditional cleansing ritual at the Sambadrome, preparing for the upcoming carnival parade in Rio de Janeiro.
Participants highlight the importance of this ritual for opening the runway and providing positive energy for revelers. The samba schools also take part in technical rehearsals as they finalize their preparations.
