In Kyiv, friends, family and fellow soldiers attend a funeral service for Ethan Hertweck, a US combat medic who volunteered to fight for Ukraine against Russia. Hertweck was killed in action on 2 December 2023 amid fierce fighting near Avdiivka. On that day, two soldiers lost their lives. Shortly after, Russian forces took control of the area.
