A resident of a flooded building in Saint-Denis worries that the water level "just keeps rising, which is really scary for the hours ahead," as Cyclone Garance continues to batter Reunion island. The cyclone barrelled across the French island killing at least three people as fierce winds left behind destruction, authorities said. Winds of up to 230 kilometres (143 miles) per hour pummelled the territory of 900,000 people and the storm earlier forced the closure of the main airport on nearby Mauritius.
