Description
Animated map showing the trajectory of the iceberg A23a, the world's largest, off the coast of South Georgia Island, from January 23 to February 28. The 80 km long iceberg, with a surface area of 3,360 square kilometres, broke away from Antarctica in 1986. After remaining in place for decades, it has been moving slowly since December towards the British island of South Georgia, further north, carried by powerful ocean currents.
