Description
The Pakistani province of Punjab has declared "a war on smog," increasing the number of public air quality monitoring devices tenfold to around 30. It follows what's been the worst winter smog season for several years, according to data analysed by AFP, with tens of millions of Pakistanis spending at least four months breathing toxic air pollution 20 times above safe levels. "First we need to focus on reducing the emissions and then we talk about how to protect," said Ahmad Ali Gul of Lahore's University of Management and Technology. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
