The cognac industry is calling on the French State and the European Union to act in response to the taxes on spirits imposed by China and now announced by the United Sates. Florent Morillon, president of the National Interprofessional Bureau of Cognac (BNIC) says "It's the death of cognac (...) there is an urgency to find solutions. In any case, yes, we were not heard or we did not speak loud enough, so we will speak louder, because now there are deadlines...there are no results and we are reaching a point where we need something concrete, very clearly,".
