Activists protest outside the UK Parliament, marking one year since a security law article, known as Article 23, was enacted by Hong Kong authorities. The move expanded the Beijing-imposed security law and upped the maximum jail term for sedition to seven years. "In that year, sadly, we've seen the effects not just of Article 23 but also of a range of laws now reaching far beyond the borders of Hong Kong or China," says Sacha Deshmukh, Amnesty International UK's Chief Executive, adding that the law was, "threatening human rights defenders all around the world, including here in the UK."
