Description
Sirens wailed across the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon on Tuesday evening as the military intercepted the latest barrage of rockets fired by Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip.
Hamas has fired thousands of rockets into Israel since Saturday, when its fighters launched an unprecedented attack on the Jewish nation.
Israel has retaliated with relentless airstrikes on the Gaza Strip and has vowed to topple the Hamas rulers of the territory.
The war has already claimed more than 1,800 lives on both sides and is expected to escalate.
