Description
U.S. President Donald Trump took his first trip of his second administration on Friday, touring areas affected by wildfires and reaffirming the government's support for California.
Trump arrived in wildfire-ravaged Los Angeles, where he met with firefighters and the Mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass.
He also took an aerial and walking tour of Pacific Palisades, a neighborhood destroyed by one of the recent fires.
He said it’s impossible to understand the scale of devastation from images.
"I don't think you can realize how rough it is, how devastating it is until you see it," Trump said at a news briefing. "It's really an incineration."
Trump said he is declaring the wildfires a national emergency and waiving federal permits to expedite rebuilding fire-ravaged areas.
