Description
Several Immigrant families with their small children went Sunday to the house of an immigration advocate they’ve known for years in Miami.
After having lunch at a large rectangular table, they listened carefully to Nora Sandigo, a Nicaraguan activist that arrived to the U.S. in 1988 and has been assisting immigrants since then.
For the group at Sandigo's home, and for millions here illegally or with temporary legal status, the start of Trump's second term as president on Monday comes with a feeling that their time in the United States may end soon.
Sandigo gave the group of roughly 20 a demonstration of how to respond if immigration officers knock on their door.
Sandigo has volunteered to be the guardian for more than 2,000 children in 15 years, including at least 30 since December.
