Description
Trump's eldest granddaughter was the latest RNC speaker and Trump family member to seek to humanize the former president at a crucial moment for Trump.
Kai Trump spoke about hearing her grandfather was nearly assassinated. “On Saturday I was shocked when I heard that he has been shot,” she said. “It was heartbreaking that someone would do that to another person.
“A lot of people have put my grandpa through hell, and he’s still standing,” she said.
Kai Trump took the mic from her dad Donald Trump Jr. at the RNC to talk about her grandfather, calling him "just a normal grandpa."
"He gives us candy and soda when our parents aren't looking," she said.
Trump had a wide smile and somewhat wistful look on his face during the entirety of his granddaughter’s remarks.
