Description
An Alaska man and two police officers joined forces to rescue a baby calf from what police described as “sure demise” after it got stuck between a floatplane and a dock in a lake.
Spencer Warren works a tourism company in Homer, Alaka, that provides outdoor trips like flightseeing and flights to bear viewing locations.
He arrived to work last Friday, and found a baby moose stuck between the company’s floatplane and the dock. He looked around, and saw the calf’s mother nearby with the other twin.
Tensions have been high in the Homer area since a man was killed by a mama moose protecting her young last month in Homer.
He called his boss about the situation. The boss called the police department because they could arrive quicker.
Two officers arrived, one blocked the mama moose from the rescue attempt with his cruise. The other office and Warren ran to the dock, jumped in and lifted the exhausted moose calf to safety.
The wobbly and exhausted calf splayed out on the boardwalk before the officer helped right him.
The calf found its mother, who was seen licking the lake water off its body.
Warren was able to set up his iPhone to catch not only the rescue but then also the mother and calf’s happy reunion.
