Description
President Joe Biden has participated in ceremonies in France marking the 80th anniversary of the D-Day invasion that helped end World War II in Europe.
On Thursday, he visited the American cemetery near the beaches of Normandy, where more than 9,000 U.S. soldiers are buried.
Biden said the largest amphibious assault in history was a reminder of the power of alliances. He said that was “a lesson that I pray we Americans never forget.”
Biden also called for solidarity with Ukraine, where the fight against the Russian invasion is in its third year. The president said that “to surrender to bullies, to bow down to dictators, is simply unthinkable.”
