VOLCANO VORTEX RINGS: Rare volcanic vortex rings were spotted rising above Mount Etna in Italy recently. The natural phenomenon occurs when gases emitted from the volcano ascend rapidly through the central part of the conduit, forming into perfect circles through a vortex motion. Mount Etna releases more of these natural rings than any volcano in the world, according to scientists, leading locals to rename it "Lady of the Rings."
