October 10, 1958 The famed British Admiral of the Fleet, Lord Louis Mountbatten arrived at the North Island Naval Air Station this morning for his first visit in San Diego in 17 years. A 17 gun salute and a naval guard of honor welcomed the colorful Admiral on his arrival from a Canadian naval base in British Columbia. Mountbatten will remain four days in San Diego touring the various Navy and Marine Corps installations. He was the guest of honor this afternoon at the recruit parade at the Naval Training Center. Tomorrow morning he'll receive full military honors at the Marine Corp Recruit Depot. A full schedule of military and social functions has been planned for the Admiral.
