July 21, 1961 The Mission Valley Country Club’s Junior Invitational Golf Tourney concluded today. Meet the winners. In the girl’s division the three top finishers…Anne Wilson of Fletcher Hills was the all-around girl champion with a 165. Judy Carp of Mission Valley was the runner up and Carolyn Buerkle of Balboa Park was third. In the twelve and under group Miss Sue O’Connor of Coronado won top honors with Mary Wilson of Fletcher Hills the ten and under champion. Mike Riley of the Host Club won the all-around title in the men’s division…Mike shot a 140 for the two rounds. Second was David Aiken of Torrey Pines, third from Mission Valley…Ronnie Fox…Mike and David by the way will play in Jr. Chamber Nationals and Don Chapman in the National USGA Jr. at Cornell university. These winners in the next three divisions from Whittier Country Club, Mark Mead who led the thirteen-year-olds and from Coronado Country Club, Jim Barkhurst, the champion in the eleven- and twelve-year-old group.
