December 27, 1984 Sun Up San Diego and host Jerry G. Bishop had a very special guest – San Diego Padres owner Joan Kroc. Her husband Ray passed away earlier that year in January. The team had phenomenal success in 1984—their first appearance in the World Series. They were defeated by the Detroit Tigers.
