San Diego police are investigating a double shooting near Little Italy and downtown that left three people dead including the suspect, and an officer in the hospital. Officers said they received a call of a shooting at 8:42 a.m. in the area of Ash Street and Union Street. They found two people shot and dead. Less than an hour after the shooting, at approximately 9:30 a.m., officers from the Harbor Patrol engaged the suspected shooter in Little Italy. A shootout ensued, injuring one officer and injuring the suspect as well. San Diego Police are now investigating both shootings. The Harbor Police officer who was shot was hit in the hip and is expected to survive.
