December 21, 1974 With unemployment figures in San Diego hovering around ten percent, many area businessmen had braced themselves for a slow Christmas shopping season, but much to their surprise, that hasn't been the case. San Diegans are seemingly ignoring the slumping economy as they turn out in droves in local shopping centers. Fashion Valley was no exception as parking lots were full and stores crowded today. Pipe and Tobacco store owner Bob O' Sullivan gave his assessment of the situation. Statistics show more persons unemployed this Christmas than at any time since 1940. Film digitized by Pea Hicks.
